A journey into history to experience the splendour of a by gone era. On these journeys visit the world's greatest monument of love-the Taj Mahal, spot the elusive tiger in Ranthambore National Park, soak up the spectacular regal heritage of Rajasthan at jaipur.

 

Day 01/ Wednesday: Board the Maharajas' Express in Delhi – Onto Agra

Welcome aboard the Maharajas' Express. 
Evening, assemble at Safdarjung station at approximately 2045 hours and complete your registration and check in formalities for the Maharajas' Express, as you enjoy a welcome drink.
Dinner on board 2130 hours onwards.

The Maharajas' Express Leaves Delhi at approximately 2200 hours to Agra
Overnight on the Maharajas' Express.

Day 02/Thursday: Agra

Arrive into the city of The Taj Mahal – The monument of Love. Besides being famous for one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Agra is also known for its fabulous handicrafts, made of marble and soft stone inlay work. The Mughals were great patrons of arts and crafts. Empress Nur Jahan took personal interest and was an accomplished artist herself in zari embroidery work.

Early morning, disembark and proceed to the world famous Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It took the efforts of approx 20,000 craftsmen for 22 years and the passion of Shah Jahan to create this white marble masterpiece. This marble poetry was created by Shah Jahan in fond memories of her beloved queen Mumtaj Mahal. 

The visit is followed by Champagne breakfast atop Taj Khema gazing at the Taj Mahal.
Following breakfast, return to the train. OR you may choose to take an optional tour to Fatehpur Sikri OR visit to Itimad-ud-Daulah or private shopping tour.

Return to the train for lunch.
After a leisurely lunch onboard proceed to visit the magnificent Agra fort. An era marked by invasions and fortifications, where power was symbolized by grand palaces and grander forts, during such time was built THE AGRA FORT. The mighty towers and overwhelming facades instilling fear and awe in the bravest of the brave. This Agra Fort is a symbol of power, strength and resilience.
The Agra Fort, also known as the “Lal –Qila”, “Fort Rouge” or “Qila-i-Akbari”, is the highlight of the city of Agra, the then capital of the Mughal Sultanate.
You can also take the optionals such as Spa facilities at a 5 star hotel OR Private shopping tour for marble and fine Mughal Jewellery or visit Fatehpur Sikri or Mohabbat the Taj show.

Return to the comfort of the train and continue your journey to Ranthambore National Park.
Breakfast at Taj Khema; Lunch and Dinner on board.
Overnight on the Maharajas' Express.

Day 03/ Friday: Ranthambore – Jaipur

On arrival in Sawai Madhopur, early in the morning, get ready for a safari to the Ranthambore National Park. Ranthambore – the private hunting ground of the Mahrajas, was declared a Nationals Park in 1973. You may have the chance to see the wildlife that includes tigers, sambar, chital, nilgai, chinkara, wild boar, sloth bear, hyena, jackal and leopard. The safari cannot be compared to that of Africa and you are indeed fortunate if you spot the elusive tiger or the shy leopard.

Proceed for an early morning game drive. The safari is carried out in open vehicles and the ride is quite bumpy. One must carry adequate warm clothes for winter months.

 

Return to train. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast onboard and unwind over lunch as your journey continues to Jaipur. 
Jaipur, the capital and the largest city of Rajasthan was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber in the 18th century. It is renowned for its magnificent palaces, forts and temples, jewellery and blue pottery.

After lunch disembark to visit the Amber Fort. The Amber Fort, set in picturesque and rugged hills is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by Mirja Raja Jai Singh, the fort was made in red sand stone and white marble. The rugged forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise with a beautiful fusion of art and architecture. Amber is the classic and romantic fort-palace with a magnificent aura.

 

A short jeep ride takes you up to the fort where you will enjoy a tour of the royal apartments, with striking views of the gorge. Step back into the Mughal era as you enter the Chamber of Mirrors (Sheesh Mahal), and the Hall of Victory or following arrival in Jaipur, you may choose to participate in one of the optional tours. Enjoy spa facilities at a five star hotel or proceed on a private shopping tour or visit the City Palace Museum and Jantar Mantar.

Proceed for an exclusive royal experience.  Your arrival at the venue will be accompanied by the band and the beating of ‘Nagadas’ (huge Indian drums). You shall also have an opportunity to indulge with the elephants – paint them, feed them or opt for a joy ride. Later, enjoy Cocktail dinner over sparkling wine at the venue. Witness native folk dances of Rajasthan over cocktail dinner.

 

Following dinner, return to the station and board the train for return journey to Delhi.

Breakfast and Lunch onboard; Dinner at an exclusive venue (City Palace or Jai Mahal Palace).

Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

 

Day 04/Saturday: Delhi (Disembark)

Breakfast will be served 0715 hours onwards on board as you arrive into Delhi. At 0830 hours Maharajas’ Express arrives into Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station. Disembark and bid farewell to the Maharajas’ Express as your journey comes to an end.
